  2. Dear Liz,

You haven't written much, but Our Lord never spoke much. He didn't have to. Every single word He ever uttered carried so much weight.

I could sit here and write a lengthier response, but at the moment, it's not the appropriate time.

I'll leave it at this. Thank you very much for taking the time out to write a response.

    David ...

  4. Dear Damo (and Family),

I'm just sitting here trying to think of how to say how much I appreciate what you've written.

You know as well as I do, the difficulty of text.

Teresa and I flew down to Adelaide, and brought mum up here (Qld) 6 weeks ago. Mum had all the support and care she required here, until it was beyond us to help her any more.

I don't know of many women (apart from nurses) who would bathe and dress an elderly incontinent women, do all her washing, make her bed, etc, but Teresa did.

Mum's kidneys gave out on Thursday night. She was admitted to Royal Brisbane Hospital, and passed away around 11.30pm on Saturday night.

The staff in the Renal Unit were beyond reproach. They gave mum a painless, peaceful death. (All the reports about the state of the health system in Australia are wrong).

The Renal Specialist asked me if I had any next-of-kin. I said, "Only a sister but we haven't spoken to each other for years." He said, "This is not the time for bad blood." So I rang Lynne. She flew up from Melbourne. We buried the bad blood instantly. So mum got to see us together again while she was coherent and lucid, which meant the world to her. And Lynne is more than grateful.

The most consoling thing of all for me was, I rang one of the SSPX priests Friday morning. He came to the hospital Friday afternoon, heard mum's confession, anointed her, and gave her Holy Communion. So she had a good Catholic death.

The funeral is on Thursday at 10am (at the SSPX church in Oxley). Mum will be buried at Brookfield (about five minutes away from where Teresa and I live).

So, thank you and your Family for your condolences. They mean a lot to me.

    David, Teresa & Lynne...
